What’s in My Shower?

I love these kind of blog posts so I thought I would do one myself!  So here’s what’s currently in my shower:

First off, I got this handy little corner shower shelf at Ikea for like £5.  It has three little shelves (I stuck all the mister’s stuff on the bottom shelf, teehee) on it and fits neatly into the corner of our shower.

On the top shelf, there is my Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Conditioner.  This stuff smells so good, like raspberries, and it leaves my hair very soft.

Then there is the Rituals Foaming Shower gel from the December Glossybox.  This gel leaves you smelling lovely and works amazingly as a shaving gel.

For face wash, I use Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub.  I really love this face wash, it smells nice and doubles up as an exfoliator as well.

And hiding in the corner is my Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry Shower gel.  I like Original Source because it’s cheap and natural, this shower gel also smells like a raspberry milkshake.

Now onto the second shelf, there’s a pot of Lush’s Rub Rub Rub.  I love using this scrubby shower gel because it exfoliates and has a nice fresh scent when I don’t feel like something fruity or sweet.  I do wish they still sold this gel in a bottle rather than pot, I find that water ends up getting into the pot.

There’s also a Body Shop Mango Body Scrub, which I use on my elbows when they get dry.  And a Soap and Glory Flake Away that serves the same purpose.

The little green puck is a Lush Karma Komba shampoo bar.  Karma is my favorite Lush scent and I love their shampoo bars.  Both the mister and I use it and I have had that particular bar since September so you really can get a lot of use out of them!

Not shown is a Gillette ProGlide Fusion razor, a pink bath pouf, and a bleach spray cleaner.  Apparently you shouldn’t really keep razors in the shower because it makes them dull, also I have always used guy razors, I just find them better than razors that are marketed to women.  The spray bleach is in there because I find it so much easier to clean our shower while I am actually showering.

What’s camping out in your shower at the moment?

Favorite Products of 2011!

2011 was a pretty decent year for me, started a new job, had my wedding in the states, moved into a lovely new flat, can’t really complain.  But I am excited for 2012 and already have some exciting things to look forward to (Barbados in February being the main event, yay delayed honeymoon!).  2011 was also a good year for me as I discovered quite a few new cosmetics brands as I began familiarizing myself with UK beauty brands, so here are my top picks for 2011:

1.  ELF Eyelid Primer-This stuff is amazing, I picked it up on a whim during a 40% off ELF ordering spree.  I never had used an eyelid primer before this and the difference was incredible.  This primer makes my eyeshadow stay put all day and at only a £1.50 you can’t go wrong.

2.  MUA Heaven and Earth Palette-A steal at £4, this palette was rampantly featured when it came out this year on beauty blogs across the web and with good reason.  I use this gorgeous neutral toned palette almost every day.  The pigmentation is amazing and the range of colours can be used to create a ton of looks.

3.  Soap and Glory Hand Food-I started using this hand cream after seeing it featured in youtube videos on missglamorazzi and FleurdeForce’s channels.  It’s not too greasy, the smaller size is perfect hand bag size and it smells delicious.  This is definitely a staple that I will be purchasing again and again.

4.  Monu Revitalising Moisturizer-I received this moisturizer in my November Glossybox and after using Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture for years, I was converted.  This moisturizer smells lovely, leaves your face perfectly matte, while leaving your skin soft and supple.  Love.

5.  Maybelline Dream Matte Powder-I started using this face powder in Rose Ivory earlier this year and have repurchased it a few times since then.  It is my perfect face powder and it takes the shine off of your face and keeps it matte practically all day long.  When my skin is behaving, I just dot on a bit of concealer and brush this powder over my face and there’s no need for foundation!  The packaging is also really cool with a swing out mirror.

6.  Cover Girl Lashblast Fusion Mascara-I have tried mascara after mascara, but this is the one for me.  I love that is lengthens and defines my lashes without making them look clumpy or spidery.

7.  Rituals Foaming Shower Gel-Another item from Glossybox (the December box).  I love this foaming shower gel, it smells amazing, lightly scents your skin, leaves your skin soft, and can also double up as a shaving cream.  It is also fun to use, which is a plus 🙂

8.  17 Fast Finish Nail Polish-I picked up this brand on a whim when I was looking for a red Barry M nail polish to do Christmas nails and Boots was completely sold out of that particular Barry M colour.  I am so glad I gave this brand a go though because for bargain nail polishes (Barry M and ELF), it lasts a lot longer, dries a lot faster, and is just a better formula in my opinion.

9.  Dove Beauty Finish Anti-Perspirant Deodorant-I know, I know, deodorant, how  exciting!  But we all use it (I hope) so it’s going on the list.  I love Dove products anyway, but was a bit skeptical when this product came out with its claims of “beauty minerals”.  Not sure what beauty minerals are supposed to do to your armpits, but this deodorant smells lovely (nicer than my standard cucumber) , is moisturizing and does the job and its pink.

So there are my top picks for 2011!  What are your favorite products that went strong this year?  What new products did you try that have become staples?

December Glossybox Review

I have been waiting ever so patiently for this month’s box and doing my best not to spoil the surprise until it arrives.  I was very happy when I came home from work today and saw my Glossybox sitting on a mound of other post (including a Lush Christmas package from my sister which I will review at a later date).

I settled myself in and opened this little beauty up and it was every bit as good as I expected it to be.  Here is what was in my December Glossybox:

Bionova Eye Wrinkle Treatment-The least exciting thing in the box, but still nice and quite an expensive product.  The scent is a bit off putting, but I have come to expect that in expensive anti-ageing products.  Will definitely be giving this a try anyway.

Blink + Go Eyeshadow and Blush Palette-The most exciting item in the box.  The     eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous and I am so happy with the silvers in my palette because I have a ton of gold and neutrals, but have been looking for a good silver eyeshadow.  The blushes look a bit bright at first glance, but will see how they apply.  The packaging on this product is so cool, will be definitely doing a review on this product at some point.

Cargo Cosmetics Classic Lip Gloss-My lip gloss came in Las Vegas (a pale shimmery peach color) and it looks gorgeous on my lips, love the color, the scent not so much.

Deborah Lippmann Nail Varnish-This adorable nail varnish came in Razzle, a dark red glitter, very pretty.  Can’t wait to try it out for the holiday season!  As a bonus, you also got a little nail polish remover mitt.

Rituals Foaming Shower Gel-This is intriguing and I will definitely be trying it out in my shower tomorrow.  Sounds like a fun product to use and I love the bright pink can it comes in.  Smells really lovely too, another gorgeous full sized product!

Whew!  What a gorgeous box, I am so happy with this month’s box and can’t wait to try everything out.  And now I can go read all those blog posts and watch all the youtube videos I’ve been avoiding 🙂

Have you received your December Glossybox yet?  What is your favorite product in this month’s box?
