Pre-Holiday Pamper!

With my holiday looming nearer in sight to Fuerteventura, I’ve started feeling the pressure to start getting hot weather ready.  You know those scaly bits of skin that may have not seen the light of day in months.  So here are 3 products I’ve used to start exfoliating/hydrating!

2014-04-27 13.07.20First off, start out with some LUSH Rub Rub Rub in the shower on your elbows, knees, and feet.  This is one of my all time favorite LUSH products.  It’s a blue fresh scented shower scrub packed with sea salt.  This will give you some serious exfoliation on those dry patches.

Then smother on some Soap & Glory Heel Genius and pull on the fuzzy socks to get those feet sandal ready.  I like doing this at night when I’m chilling out in front of the tv so the lotion can really soak in for a while.

And with my winter dry skin, my face has needed a bit of TLC and this Montagne Jeunesse Hot Spring Sauna mask* was just the thing.  It is self heating and actually feels quite hot when first applied.  It has quite a gritty texture that might be too harsh for some skin, but I just massaged it in the areas I knew needed the exfoliation, mostly around my nose.  Leave it on for 10-15 and wash off with a face cloth.  I think this would actually make a really nice foot mask and think I will be trying that out next time I pick one these masks up!

So there you have it, phase one of my holiday prep!

What are your favorite pampering products to get your skin summer ready?

May Empties

It’s that time again, where I go to the H&M bag I keep in the corner of the bedroom and dump its contents onto my bed to photograph before they are bound for the recycling bin.  And my husband watches this all in awe, wondering why I am photographing my hoarded bag of trash.

2013-06-02 11.58.19Skin Therapy Fragrance Free Facial Wipes-But wait, Mandy, aren’t you giving up the facial wipes as part of your New Year’s resolution?  I have fallen off the wagon again, with the Escentual Micellar Blind Trial I kind of gave up properly washing my face in the evenings and have resorted to face wipes and micellar solutions.  For shame.

Soap and Glory Clean on Me-Loved this shower gel and it lasted ages!  I probably won’t repurchase though as it is a bit of a splurge and I am perfectly happy using £1 Original Source.

V05 High Volume Hairspray-This hairspray did the job, but I do prefer my Got2B Collagen Lift Hairspray.

MUA Every Lash Waterproof Mascara-I haven’t finished this mascara, but have decided to bin it as it is impossible to remove!  Nothing will make this budge without a lot of scrubbing and a lot of lashes falling out.  It’s just not worth it.

Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off-This is probably my favorite mask from Montagne Jeunesse, it smell good enough to eat and makes my skin super smooth.

Superdrug Cotton Rounds-A staple with micellar solutions, already repurchased.

Docteur Renaud Raspberry Soft Cream-This face cream was amazing, smells like raspberries and made my skin perfectly moisturized without being too shiny.

Soap and Glory Flake Away-A little of this goes a long way, used it on my elbows and other dry bits (I can’t believe I’d had this since December 2011!).  I won’t repurchase at the moment because I am currently using up a huge tub of Sugar Crush.

Have you tried any of these products?  What have you used up in the month of May?

January Empties

Again, disclaimer to start off with:  I did not use up all these empties in the month of January, in fact these are from November onward from where I did my last empties post found here.  So without further ado, here’s my trash!

emptiesClean and Clear Morning Energy-This is a nice cleanser that I use in the shower every morning.  It contains bursting beads that gently exfoliate without being too harsh.  This isn’t a definite repurchase for me as I prefer the Neutrogena Visibly Clean Grapefruit scrub.

DKNY Be Delicious-I love this perfume, it’s fresh and fruity and I prefer it to the Red Delicious.  I will not be repurchasing for a while though as I was spoiled with perfumes at Christmas this year and can’t justify buying more.

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner-This is a nice shampoo and conditioner set, it moisturizes your hair without weighing it down and I have already repurchased.  The only thing I find strange about this line is that the conditioner is actually thicker and feels more moisturizing than the deep repair hair masque in the line.  So skip on the masque, get the conditioner instead!

Got2Be Collagen Lift Hairspray-This is my Holy Grail hairspray.  It smells amazing which is odd for hairspray and gives enough volume/hold without making your hair crispy or sticky.  Definite repurchase.

Wilko’s Fruity Shower Smoothie/Cream-Love these, they are cheap and cheerful and are a bathroom staple.  They are always 2 for £1.50 at Wilko’s, we use their hand soap as well, nothing bad to say about it.

Body Shop Mango Shower Gel-This was a nice shower gel, nothing too exciting.  I got it in one of their discounted gift sets last year after Christmas.  I did get another discounted scent this year in coconut!  Probably wouldn’t pay full price for this product.

ELF Blush/Bronzer Brush-This has been the only ELF brush I have purchased that has been absolute crap, I got the Real Techniques Blush Brush recently so felt it was time to throw this piece of crap out.  It has coarse bristles, barely picks up any product, shed, and falls apart.  Bad, bad, bad.

Montagne Jeunesse Prickly Pear Peel-Like most Montagne Jeunesse face masks, this smelled absolutely amazing.  It did make my skin feel a lot better, I love peel off masks, I just imagine it taking all the junk off my face when I pull it off.  Would repurchase.

And there are my empties!

Have you tried any of these products lately?  Thoughts?

Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa Masks!

I was sent the Montagne Jeunesse Glacial Clay Spa and Dead Sea Mud Spa masks to review a few weeks ago.  The idea behind these two masks are that you get a fabric mask that is infused with clay or mud.  I was really intrigued when I heard about these masks because I love what a clay mask does for my skin, but I absolutely hate the mess, drying process, and that “my face is going to crack if I move” feeling.

I tried out the Glacial Clay Spa mask the other night and it is a bit fiddly to unfold and get out of the packaging.  The mask is quite large, but if you make a few folds and creases you should be able to fit it to your face.  The Glacial Clay Spa Mask smelled very nice and fresh, it definitely had that “spa” smell.  I did look quite scary with the mask on my face, but it was worth not having to crack dried clay off my face.  The mask won’t dry like a normal clay mask would, you just leave it on for 10-15 minutes (I like to leave my masks on for 20), remove, and rinse the excess off your face.  i was having particularly oily skin when I used the Glacial Clay Spa mask and it really helped to sort it out!

The Dead Sea Mud Spa mask was also really nice, but there was something about the scent that did put me off a bit.  Mostly because it was slightly reminiscent of Irish Springs Soap, I don’t know if it is just a US thing, but Irish Spring is a bright green soap with a very strong (and sickening to me) scent.  I did like what the mask did for my skin though, it left it feeling really clean and bright.

These masks are so much easier to use than a typical clay mask and you still reap all the benefits of a clay mask!  This is something I will definitely be repurchasing for myself (despite my husband almost wetting himself laughing when he saw me wearing one).  The clay masks retail for £1.49 and can be purchased from Montagne Jeunesse, but will also be available at Boots (August) and ASDA September).

Montagne Jeunesse Travel Pamper Pack Review!

I received the Montagne Jeunesse Travel Pamper Pack awhile ago to review and I’ve finally gotten around to using up all the lovely goodies that were included in the pack.

Included in the pack were:

Apricot and Mango Body Smoother:  This is a great refreshing exfoliator!

Lime Oil and Citrus Hair Masque:  A moisturizing hair masque that you apply in the shower and leave in for 3 minutes.

Passion Peel Off Face Mask:  This was my favorite of the products included, the scent of the mask was so fresh and delicious!

Blueberry Footcooler:  A somewhat unique product, the lotion turns to a powder after you start rubbing it into your feet.

Orange Body Wash:  A lovely refreshing body wash, two packets included!

Overall, I think this is a great pack of items, I think it would be especially good for holidays in warmer climates where you might need some extra moisturization!  I would have loved to have this during my honeymoon in Barbados after having dried out beach feet, salty sun bleached hair, and generally grubby skin, haha!

The Travel Pamper Pack retails for £5.00 and you can purchase it at the Montagne Jeunesse website or ASDA!

Montagne Jeunesse Skin Heroes: Break-Out Mask

This is a review on one of the face masks I was sent to review by Montagne Jeunesse’s Skin Heroes Range.  I am really loving this range because I am finding opportunities to use each specific mask.  This week I have been suffering from a case of spotty skin.  Which may be due to me falling asleep watching tv in the evenings and not being very thorough with removing my makeup before I drag myself to bed.  (I’ve been extra tired lately, with how light it’s been in the mornings, my body clock has been getting me up an hour earlier than I should be up).

The Break Out Mask is a thick green clay mask containing tea tree oil and Canadian Willowherb (no idea what that is, never heard of it before, but it is trade marked for some reason).  The mask is cooling and tingles while on your face.  I had enough mask to put some on my chest which has been a bit spotty as well.  I waited the 15 minutes for the mask to dry (I hate the feeling of drying clay masks when it starts to crack).  After washing off the mask, I applied the moisturizer that is included.

My skin felt so nice after using this product, like I’ve had a nice deep cleanse.  Also with the moisturizer, your skin doesn’t feel dried out at all afterwards, which can be the case with clay masks.

Have you tried any of the masks from the Skin Heroes Range?  What’s your favorite clay mask?

Montagne Jeunesse Skin Heroes: Dry Skin Mask

I’ve been slowly working my way through these face masks, kindly sent to me for review by Montagne Jeunesse.  I recently went on holiday to Berlin, while amazing, it was one of those trips that wreaked havoc on my skin (as well as the rest of me).  It was one of those holidays where you see photos of it afterwards and say to yourself, “Huh, don’t remember being there, but at least it looks like I was enjoying myself…”  No?  Just me who does that?

Back to the point of this post, I was left with a rather flaky dry chin and thought the Montagne Jeunesse Dry Skin Mask would be just the thing for my poor dehydrated abused skin.

I apologize in advance for the photos, they were taken in the evening, I had saved the packaging to retake them, but the mister threw it out before I had the chance.

This is another two-step mask including a second step of a serum packed with antioxidants.  The mask contains blueberries and raspberries to moisturize and protect your face from free radicals.  One thing to note is unlike shown on the packaging, the mask is white, not pink.  Some people might find this a bit disappointing, but I wasn’t too fussed about it.

So applied the mask and let it sit on my face while I took a nice luxurious bubble bath.  Normally, I would not wear a face mask in the bath because clay and peel off masks won’t dry properly, but this mask was more of a cream and fine to wear in the bath.

This mask did really do wonders for my skin, it was incredibly hydrating and my dry patch disappeared.  The moisturizing serum helped seal everything in after I wiped away the face mask.  If you have dry skin, I would definitely recommend this.

Montagne Jeunesse products can be purchased here or at Asda.
