I am really terrible about getting my hair cut and keeping up with my highlights. I think my most recent trip to the hairdressers came after about a 7 month-long hiatus. It is very rewarding to see your scraggly ended, 5 inch long roots hairstyle be transformed with a fresh set of high lights and 5 inches of hair chopped off. People will notice, haha!
After my last trip to the hairdressers, I noticed my scalp was very dry and itchy, probably a combination of the change in weather and the culmination of bleach in my hair. I tried using the Charles Worthington 1 Minute Hair Masque, but that wasn’t cutting it. So I stopped into LUSH, I did have these 2 products in mind before stopping in. I have tested R&B in the shop previously, I had rubbed a bit into my ends and fell in love with the scent that lingered all day. I also knew I wanted the purple Daddy-O shampoo to help maintain my highlights.
R&B-This is a thick yellow hair moisturizer that smells like a beach holiday, the coconut sun cream smell. You only need a small amount of this, I take slightly larger than a pea sized amount, rub it between my fingers than smooth onto the ends of my wet hair, massaging the remainder into my scalp/roots/lengths before blow drying. If you have thin hair, I wouldn’t suggest using this on dry hair as it will make your hair look greasy, perfectly fine before blow drying however and your hair will smell delicious all day long.
Daddy-O Shampoo-First off, this shampoo smells absolutely amazing. My mister stole this the other day, which is a huge no no, I could tell because I kept catching whiffs of his thieving delicious smelling hair. I use this shampoo twice a week to keep the brassiness out of my highlights. This stuff is seriously purple, I imagine you would not want to leave this sitting in your hair long unless a purple tinge is what you are going for, I also avoid my fabric shower curtain when using this as well.
Both of these products are fantastic and do exactly what I wanted them to do. Have you ever used LUSH hair products before? Favorites?
For my birthday, I was lucky enough to receive a voucher for a massage at the LUSH Spa in Poole from the hubby. I’ve always wanted to go to the LUSH Spa so I was absolutely ecstatic. The massage he chose for me was The Comforter?, the description from the website being:
A relaxing full body treatment to help you dive into a world of pure imagination. Tucked up in a warm and cosy duvet, you’ll be coated with a hot chocolate exfoliating body scrub and rose-scented massage to leave you feeling rejuvenated and your skin deeply nourished. This treatment involves a rhythmic, medium-pressured massage accompanied by bespoke dreamy music that allows you to drift off while rose-scented bubbles fill the room.
Sounds amazing right? And it was. I’ve only ever had one bog standard masssage before back in the states and this experience was completely different and so much better. LUSH has thought of everything, these are carefully planned out experiences that take in account all your senses!
I won’t give too much away about the actual treatment itself, but I will say I didn’t want it to end! Before you actually go into the room for the massage, you sit down at a table and the member of staff goes through the massage with your and the products. For my treatment, a chocolate exfoliating scrub was used, it smelled like hot brownie batter and also a rose serum. They advise you not to shower after the treatment because the products continue to work and soften the skin afterwards. I also smelled amazing, haha!
The actual room that the massage took place in was beautiful as well with a fireplace and shelves along the walls line with apothecary style bottles filled with potions. Instead of a standard massage table, you crawl into a bed with a marshmallow topper and fluffy duvet.
As a souvenir for the experience, I decided to treat myself to a bottle of 29 High Street perfume. This perfume is exclusive to the shop in Poole and it smells exactly like a LUSH shop. It lasts on the skin all day, subtlety changing throughout, definitely something I will save for special occasions!
I highly recommend trying out a treatment from the LUSH Spa if you get the opportunity. It is an amazing indulgent experience! I think I have my eye on the Hard Days Night Treatment next…Here’s the link to the site where you can check out all the treatments offered.
Are you a fan of massages? Have you ever had a LUSH Spa treatment?
When this year’s Lush Christmas range came out, I almost bought the whole lot on the website. It just looked that good! I managed to restrain myself though and save up a bit before splurging in a shop in town. Which generally, I do think is preferable to shopping online because something that sounds amazing may not float your boat in person (I, for one, cannot stand Snow Fairy which seems to have its own cult following, too sickly for my liking). There is one item this year that I was over the moon to see and that was the So White Shower gel, the So White bath bomb is one of my top Lush products and the thought of having it in shower gel form is wonderful.
So here’s what I got!
Holly Golightly-This bubble bar scared me a bit with the copious amounts of silver glitter, but it was huge and pretty and I couldn’t pass it up. It has a spicy citrus smell and looks like a product you can get quite a few uses from.
Dashing Santa-This little guy is packed full of citrus, I tend to prefer the citrusy Lush scents so I had to get him.
Lord of Misrule-This bath bomb looks amazing, it has a bright purple center. The scent is gorgeous, its spicy and sweet, one of the more complex Lush scents.
Cinders-An old favorite, love the popping candy!
So White Shower Gel-My favorite apple scented bath bomb in shower gel form, can’t wait to use this! I plan on trying it in my hair as well to see if the scent lingers.
Snow Angel-This beautiful bath melt smells like my beloved Snowcake soap. I didn’t pick up any soap this year as I don’t really tend to use solid soap so this bath melt is the perfect alternative to one of my favorite Christmas Lush scents.
So White Bath Bomb-Fresh apple scented loveliness!
I can’t wait to try all these products out! And I’m sure quite a few will be making it on my Christmas wish list as well (a truck load of So White shower gel will do nicely).
Have you tried any of the Lush Christmas range yet? What your favorite seasonal Lush product?
Having just come back from a lovely week-long holiday in Fuerteventura (read about it here if you like), my skin is in dire need of hydration. My complexion does not lend itself to tanning well at all.
I don’t tan, I burn and get freckly. Despite my best efforts of slathering in SPF 50 sun cream, I still managed to get some weird patches of sun burn. I gave up laying out halfway through the holiday and enjoyed the heat from the shade of a parasol for the remainder of the trip.
To ease the pain and prevent myself from shedding like a snake, I have been slathering on copious amounts of LUSH’s Dream Cream. This is a lovely, cooling cream that is suitable for sensitive skin and feels great to soothe sunburns.
It’s thicker than a lotion, but not quite as thick as a body butter. It does have a slightly greasy texture. It does have a very strong herbal scent, mostly like lavender, so if that’s not your thing you might want to steer clear. Beside lavender oil, it also contains skin softening oat milk, rose absolute, and fair trade cocoa butter.
This will definitely be part of my daily routine until my sunburn has healed and gone.
Do you turn into a bronze goddess in the sun or are you a pale gal that can’t take the heat? What’s your favorite after sun product?
I’ve only really dabbled with LUSH skin care in the past. The Fresh Face masks are nice for an occassional treat, but I found their solid cleansers such as Herbalism and Angels on Bare Skin too fussy to use. I wash my face in the shower in the morning and can’t be bothered with trying to keep water out of a tub of solid cleanser and trying to mix a paste in my hands before it all crumbles down the drain. But I have discovered two products from the LUSH skin care line that I am really loving now.
First up is Skin’s Shangrhi La, I received a sample of this in a giftset. This is a super thick moisturizer, definitely for the dry skinned girlies. And even then I only use it at night and on the weekends when I know I won’t be going out. This stuff is greasy! But it’s perfect for getting dried out winter skin back into shape. The only thing I dislike about it is the scent. It contains wheat grass and vanilla, and it smells like wheat grass and vanilla. It is not a pleasant scent.
And the second product is the 9 to 5 cleansing lotion. This stuff on the other hand smells divine, it’s very floral so if that’s not your thing, I would avoid this. I use this on a cotton pad in the evening and it will completely dissolve all of your makeup, including waterproof mascara, it’s very gentle and won’t sting your eyes. I then follow-up with my Boot Botanics All Bright Cleansing toner.
Have you tried any LUSH skincare? What are you using to combat dry winter skin?
No, not actual Silky Underwear, although I am interested to see what searches this post will lead to, I’m talking about LUSH’s cult product dusting powder, Silky Underwear!
I received this product for my birthday in the “You’re a Star!” giftset, I have heard a ton about this product, but never tried it myself. I was a bit dubious as to what I would need a dusting powder for, having never felt the need to use one before, but surprisingly, I have been using this little gem quite a bit!
Silky Underwear is jasmine scented, one of my favorite LUSH scents. It also contains cocoa butter so it is somewhat moisturising as well which doesn’t really come to mind when you think of a dusting powder.
So what have I have been using it for? I’ve been dusting it on my legs and arms instead of moisturising if I’m going out and don’t want to deal with skinny jeans sticking to freshly moisturised legs. It leaves you lightly scented and also the cocoa butter leaves your legs lovely and smooth!
Another tip, it’s amazing to dust on after shaving or waxing. Especially the bikini line, one thing I learned is that it’s better to keep the area you’ve shaved/waxed dry to avoid ingrown hairs and bumps rather than moisturising, which can aggravate the problem.
And here’s a not so pleasant, but one of those things we deal with things. You know how smelly flats can get when you aren’t wearing socks? Shake a little of the dusting powder into your flats and your feet will stay dry and fresh throughout the day!
Have you tried dusting powders? What are some uses you’ve come up with?
I haven’t treated myself to a LUSH product in a while, mostly because I’ve been trying to use up all my Soap and Glory goodies from the Christmas set. I was in town recently and if I am near the LUSH store while there, I can never help myself from going inside and having a sniff around (literally). One of the SAs came up to me while I was browsing and showed me this gorgeous orange bubble bar. I initially thought it was Karma, one of my all time faves, but no, this was a lovely triple citrus infused bad boy.
Three types of citrus is what sold me, I love a good citrus scent! The sheer size of this bubble bar is a plus as well, it’s about the same size as the Comforter. So I brought it home and immediately ran a bath. I wasn’t impressed initially because it was rock hard! I don’t know if it was from sitting out on display, but I had to take a knife to get a piece off, normally I can just break a chunk off. It turned the water orange, but didn’t create many bubbles. It smelled amazing though, kind of like Fruit Loops.
The second time I used it, it had softened up a bit and created tons of bubbles. I kind of laugh at the suggestion that you’ll get two uses out of this, no way would I use that much at once especially at LUSH prices! I’ll probably get 6-8 baths from this, a good trick is to stick a chunk in a cut off pair of pantyhose and hang it under the tap, you’ll way more bubbles!
This was limited edition and doesn’t seem to be available at the moment. Fingers crossed that LUSH might bring this back as a permanent product because it smells delicious!
What’s your favorite LUSH product? Are you stingy with using your LUSH or do you throw the whole thing in?
