Current Skin Care

I think I’ve finally found a skin care routine that I really like and have actually been repurchasing the core products rather than chopping and changing (although trying new things is always fun!).  So here are the products I’ve been using for my winter skin care routine:

2015-02-08 11.46.05

Soap and Glory Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths-Shame!  I know, the evil cleansing wipes!  But I promise I’ve actually been using these a lot less.  Now that I work out 3 times a week, I’ll take a shower after and remove my makeup with my daily face wash.  So these are just for in a pinch, but they are very nice as far as face wipes go.  I got these in my Soap and Glory holiday giftset, they’re very wet and sturdy, not sad little, half dry wipes.  They are alcohol free and contain glycerin so they moisturise as well as exfoliate.

Dr Jart+ Clear Away Gel-I received this little gem in my January Birchbox, I love Dr Jart+ products!  This is a gel that has tiny little exfoliating beads to smooth the skin and help refine pores, I use it about twice a week to get rid of any dead skin cells.

Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash-This is just a nice simple, no frills face wash.  Both the mister and I use it, it cleans your face, doesn’t dry out you skin, what more could you want?

2015-02-08 11.45.50Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner-This is the one product that I kind of bought on a whim and probably won’t repurchase.  I prefer the Boots Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner, which is more of an exfoliating toner (its supposed be a dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic), however the small Boots near my work doesn’t carry it.  So I picked this up instead, it’s alcohol free which is a plus, but not particularly exciting.  I do find it still makes my skin feel a bit tight.  I’ll use it up until its gone and then go back to my Boots Botanics toner.

Boots Botanics Skin Calming Day Cream SPF 15-If you’ve read my blog any amount of time, you will definitely have seen this before.  I love this moisturiser, this is probably like my 8th or 9th one.  It gives my dry skin the perfect amount of moisture with the added bonus of SPF, love this stuff.

Boots Vitamin E Gentle Eye Cream SPF 15-Can you tell I like Boots skin care yet?  This is a simple and effective eye cream and it’s cheap to boot!  £2.50 for this baby, you just need a small amount, I pat a bit around my eye area with my ring finger before applying my face moisturiser.  In the winter I also have been using this around my nose when the skin has been chapped there.

Have you used any of these products?  Is your skin care routine constantly changing or do you have your old stand bys?

TLC Tag!

Saw Ingrid and Becky do this tag on TalkBeckyTalk Channel and thought I’d give it a whirl.  I do try to give myself a little extra TLC during the colder months.  My skin seems extra temperamental and if I don’t take care of it spots, itchy scalp, and dry skin all seem to crop up!  So here are the extra luxurious and rich products I like to use to treat myself to a little TLC!

Hands-I am never without my Hand Food.  This is the perfect answer to dry hands, it’s non-greasy and smells delicious.  A firm favorite.

Hair-Recently, I’ve been using the John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion Serum before drying my hair.  This is in addition to my normal heat protectant and I have been noticing a significant difference in the ends of my hair.

Body-The Righteous Butter is a lovely thick body butter.  This is perfect to slather on after a bath before getting into your jim jams.

Lips-Another item I never leave home without is my eos Lip Balm in Pomegranate, keeps my lips protected and moisturised.

Eyes-This was an easy one because it’s the only eye cream I use and its Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream!  Cheap and does the trick.

Skin-For those days when my skin is feeling extra dry, I pat on some Lush Skin Shangri La before I go to bed.  Super rich, definitely not for day time wear, but a perfect hydrating night cream.

Drink-Cold winter evenings call for Twinings Camomile and Spiced Apple tea, perfect as it contains no caffeine and tastes delicious!

I’m no good at these tags so I tag all of you!  Leave me your link in the comments if you do this tag!

What are your favorite products for some extra TLC?  Favorite winter warmer?

Beauty Bargain Alert: Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream

I have a confession to make.  I never used eye creams until I subscribed to Glossybox and started receiving samples.  Then I cancelled my Glossybox subscription, ran out of my samples and stopped using eye cream again.  I figured my eye skin can’t be all that different from the rest of my face so my face cream should take care of everything.  My husband has quite a few opinions on this as I found out when I had a minor freak out at him for gleefully washing his face with our Original Source Shower gel.  The exchange went a bit like this:

“Oh my god, that’s so bad for your skin!!!”

“It will dry it out, its not for your face!”

“Well, you make me use a moisturizer so that should take of the that.”

“It’s not for your face skin though!”

“Geeze, the beauty market really has you over a barrel don’t they?  Oooo, don’t use this on your skin, it’s will age you 60 years in one go, oh no….”

And so on, to be fair, the ingredients of Original Source Shower gel are quite similar at a glance to those in my Neutrogena Grapefruit face scrub, but I digress.  I have been convinced by the beauty world if I don’t use a separate eye cream to my face cream, my eye skin will be as wrinkled as a newborn Sharpei by my early thirties.  So I picked up this little gem at Boots the other day, it won’t break the bank and will give you peace of mind, the Vitamin E Gentle Eye Cream with SPF 15.

I love this stuff, it retails for £2.54!  It is thick and nourishing, yet sinks into the skin easily.  I pat this under my eyes in the morning before applying my usual face cream, giving it a few minutes to sink in first, usually while I brush my teeth.

2013-11-06 11.44.57It is gentle and the SPF is an added bonus.  I can’t say that I can see a difference as I am using it as a preventative rather to treat existing wrinkles, but overall it is a really nice eye cream and I am interested in trying other products from the Vitamin E range.

Have you tried any products from the Boots Vitamin E range?  Is all skin created equal or are these masses of products specific to an area really necessary?
