NOTD: 17 Fast Finish in Peacock

As you are probably well aware by now, I am a big fan of the 17 Fast Finish nail polishes.  They dry quickly and last a decent amount of time.  So when I was browsing Boots on my lunch break and came across this bright spring beauty in Peacock, I couldn’t pass it up.

(Yes, the teeth marks that grace all my 17 Fast Finish nail polish, those suckers are impossible to open!)

2013-04-15 07.34.09I got so many compliments on this colour.  It changes from blue to green in different lights and is a perfect bright springy colour if you’re not into the whole pastel scene.

What’s on your nails at the moment?

NOTD: 17 Fast Finish Nail Polish in Poison

Here’s a quick nail of the day for you with another of the new 17 Fast Finish nail polishes in Poison!  Another great metallic for fall/winter.

This is a really interesting nail polish that changes color in different lights.  Sometimes it just looks like a metallic gold while other times, you can really see the green.  I had a lot of comments on it while wearing it!

As usual, I am a fan of the 17 Fast Finish formula, although I am finding that these metallic colors chip more quickly than their other colors.

What have you been wearing on your nails recently?

Sidenote:  You may have noticed some changes around here, I wanted to find a cleaner looking layout for the ol blog and I really like this one.  Unfortunately, you have to scroll to the top of the post to comment which I am not a fan of so it may change again soon!  Let me know what you think 🙂

NOTD: 17 Fast Finish in Copper

Yesterday, the mister and I did a quick nip over to the local shopping centre, mostly so he could buy a new Xbox Live subscription (goodbye to any conversation we might have in the evenings!).  I had to stop in Boots to pick up a few necessary items, but needed a treat so I grabbed 2 of the new 17 Fast Finish nail polishes (they were buy one, get one half off so I had to get two of course).  I used Copper yesterday and I absolutely love it, it is a perfect fall metallic.

It retails for £2.99 and is supposed to be a pretty good dupe for Orly Rage.  I love the Fast Finish polishes, they dry quickly and are opaque with one coat (I always do two though because I usually miss bits the first time around).

One thing I have found with the 17 Fast Finish nail polishes is that they are impossible to get open initially, hence the lovely teeth marks on the polish lid.

Do you plan to try any of the new 17 polishes for the fall?  What do you think of metallics for the colder weather?

NOTD: 17 Caribbean Coral

After a week of putting my nails through no polish boot camp (and not much to show for it, post to come), I finally allowed myself to paint them this weekend.  With the lovely, sunny weather we’ve had, I wanted a polish to reflect the same.  So a friend and I happened to meander into Boots on Saturday before lounging about in a beer garden for the rest of the day. Of course to take advantage of their 3 for 2 on EVERYTHING!

Initially, I picked up Barry M in Coral, but I’m not the biggest fan of the Barry M formula.  I’ve found it to chip quite quickly and much prefer 17 Fast Finish nail polish and found a similar shade to the Barry M called Caribbean Coral.  Upon second glance, it’s Caribean Coral, way to misspell 17, minus 10 points for you.

So despite the creative spelling, this is a gorgeous, bright orangey coral.  Perfect for hot weather or for wishful hoping for hot weather.

What’s your favorite spring shade?

Favorite Products of 2011!

2011 was a pretty decent year for me, started a new job, had my wedding in the states, moved into a lovely new flat, can’t really complain.  But I am excited for 2012 and already have some exciting things to look forward to (Barbados in February being the main event, yay delayed honeymoon!).  2011 was also a good year for me as I discovered quite a few new cosmetics brands as I began familiarizing myself with UK beauty brands, so here are my top picks for 2011:

1.  ELF Eyelid Primer-This stuff is amazing, I picked it up on a whim during a 40% off ELF ordering spree.  I never had used an eyelid primer before this and the difference was incredible.  This primer makes my eyeshadow stay put all day and at only a £1.50 you can’t go wrong.

2.  MUA Heaven and Earth Palette-A steal at £4, this palette was rampantly featured when it came out this year on beauty blogs across the web and with good reason.  I use this gorgeous neutral toned palette almost every day.  The pigmentation is amazing and the range of colours can be used to create a ton of looks.

3.  Soap and Glory Hand Food-I started using this hand cream after seeing it featured in youtube videos on missglamorazzi and FleurdeForce’s channels.  It’s not too greasy, the smaller size is perfect hand bag size and it smells delicious.  This is definitely a staple that I will be purchasing again and again.

4.  Monu Revitalising Moisturizer-I received this moisturizer in my November Glossybox and after using Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture for years, I was converted.  This moisturizer smells lovely, leaves your face perfectly matte, while leaving your skin soft and supple.  Love.

5.  Maybelline Dream Matte Powder-I started using this face powder in Rose Ivory earlier this year and have repurchased it a few times since then.  It is my perfect face powder and it takes the shine off of your face and keeps it matte practically all day long.  When my skin is behaving, I just dot on a bit of concealer and brush this powder over my face and there’s no need for foundation!  The packaging is also really cool with a swing out mirror.

6.  Cover Girl Lashblast Fusion Mascara-I have tried mascara after mascara, but this is the one for me.  I love that is lengthens and defines my lashes without making them look clumpy or spidery.

7.  Rituals Foaming Shower Gel-Another item from Glossybox (the December box).  I love this foaming shower gel, it smells amazing, lightly scents your skin, leaves your skin soft, and can also double up as a shaving cream.  It is also fun to use, which is a plus 🙂

8.  17 Fast Finish Nail Polish-I picked up this brand on a whim when I was looking for a red Barry M nail polish to do Christmas nails and Boots was completely sold out of that particular Barry M colour.  I am so glad I gave this brand a go though because for bargain nail polishes (Barry M and ELF), it lasts a lot longer, dries a lot faster, and is just a better formula in my opinion.

9.  Dove Beauty Finish Anti-Perspirant Deodorant-I know, I know, deodorant, how  exciting!  But we all use it (I hope) so it’s going on the list.  I love Dove products anyway, but was a bit skeptical when this product came out with its claims of “beauty minerals”.  Not sure what beauty minerals are supposed to do to your armpits, but this deodorant smells lovely (nicer than my standard cucumber) , is moisturizing and does the job and its pink.

So there are my top picks for 2011!  What are your favorite products that went strong this year?  What new products did you try that have become staples?

Product Review: Festive Fingernails!

I did a little Christmas shopping yesterday in Bournemouth.  I initially went into Boots looking for some red Barry M nail polish and maybe some gold glitter to go over the top.  Unfortunately as I was scanning the Barry M section in the cosmetics aisle, the bright red I had wanted was completely out.

Instead I ended up with 17 Fast Finish nail polish in Garnet and Sulk. (I apologize for the crappy close up phone pics).

I am terrible when it comes to painting my nails.  I always end up ruining them, but this fast finish formula made the process a lot easier.  I am one of those people who sits down to do their nails and gets too impatient to let them dry properly.  I’ll start thinking, “I could probably turn on my lap top if I do it really carefully.” or ,”My freaking feet are freezing, time to put some socks on!” and end ruining my freshly painted nails.  So Fast Finish is definitely a plus and these nail polishes also just need one coat for an opaque finish.  In my opinion the formula is better than Barry M.

I also had a nice little bonus as 17 products were buy 2 and get a free disco purse containing 3 nail polishes and a cute little nail file.

The nail varnishes are a clear silver glitter effects polish, a high gloss cherry red, and a high gloss black.  Very nice.

As you can see, I just went for bright red nails with a forest green ring finger detail.  I thought the Barry M Effects in the gold crackle glitter would look really cute over red nail polish for the holidays.  What are you doing for your nails as far as holiday looks?
